Preparing for November
practice runs for the National Tour

Preparing for a national tour is not just meetings and planning sessions and numerous phone calls. A dry run of the planned route is needed to work out any problems that may occur when a bunch of old cars go touring. Club members did just that as they gathered to help the daily tour guides fine tune the route and to brainstorm any problems encountered.

July 21, 2007 - Western Route

Bobby & Nell Hollingsworth led club drivers to the Jim Woodruff Dam on Lake Seminole with only one minor glitch enroute, which brings to mind that you should follow the directions given instead of the cars in front of you!  A stop was made in Marianna at the planned lunch location where we met a tour participant that plans to be with us in November. A trip out to the Florida Caverns State Park completed the tour.

August 18 - Southern Route

Tour guides John & Glenda Schanbacher conducted a run south of Tallahassee to simulate the first planned tour to be conducted on a Monday. The trip takes our tourists through the town of Crawfordville where a mid morning coffee break is planned at the local park with refreshments provided by the Volunteer Fire Department.
A short drive from there brings them to the world-famous Wakulla Springs State Park where lunch will be served at the lodge. Boat rides and walking tours of the Springs will be available.
