Preparing for November
practice runs for the National Tour
Sep22- Northern Route
The last tune-up run for the National Fall Tour was conducted by a number of our members under the guidance of Rosa Ann Hadden. The day began with an early-bird breakfast at the Cracker Barrel restaurant adjacent to the tour’s host hotel. 16 members met for a leisurely repast before heading out north to Cairo, GA..
We were joined by more members at the hotel and wound our way north through canopied roads and two-lane byways. Our first stop was a brief drive through the beautifully restored grounds of the Pebble Hill Plantation.
The next stop was the Georgia city known for it’s hospitality and love of old cars and site of the annual Great Southern Antique Car Rally. Cairo is also home to one of the best antique car museums in the southeast. Proprietors Wayne and Rosa Ann Hadden led us through a tour of the museum with it’s variety of beautiful cars and memorabilia. The latest display features some outstanding fire house related items along with several restored fire trucks. Then, what else? We had another great dining experience in Wayne and Rosa Ann's restaurant - Mr. Chicks.
